A handmade bowl crafted to hold treasures of your choosing--matches? spices? gold coins? This bowl with fitted lid is a piece of the Old West. Made of spalted hackberry wood by woodturner Eldon Foster, out on his Montana ranch.
Wooden storage bowls and vessels had a real role to play on homesteads and ranches out West. Food storage, dry good storage; these could be made locally with simple tools from nearby woods. Often lost to time, wooden bowls connect you to the maker's own hands. This bowl with fitted lid was turned on a lathe and cut with chisels. Woodworker Eldon Foster handcrafted this bowl from spalted hackberry wood with complex grain. One of a kind character.
6 1/4" wide x 3 1/2" tall. Medium sized storage bowl with tightly fitted lid. Eldon crafts each piece to be one of a kind; functional for so many purposes. You all have seen that I use a handmade box to hold my wood stove matches. A turned bowl is perfect for spices, mementos, matches, or more!
